Where a dollar buys the most protein.
Cheapest gram of protein at PAK'nSAVE this week: chicken thigh at $1.00/100g.
The cheapest gram of protein on the shelves we watch this Friday sits with chicken thigh at PAK'nSAVE — $1.00 per 100g, or roughly $9.99 per kilo. We compute this by reading the cheapest valid pack of each protein staple, then dividing the pack price by the pack’s weight in grams. Pack price alone is misleading — a 200g tin and a 1.8kg roast aren’t the same shop. Per 100g levels the field. Frozen, tinned, and fresh all qualify; the lowest per-100g number wins. Cheapest doesn’t mean best for a given recipe — but it’s the honest answer to "where does a dollar buy the most protein this week?".
How we measure this
For each protein staple we read the cheapest valid pack at both supermarkets, divide the pack price by the pack’s weight in grams, then multiply by 100. The lowest per-100g number across every protein wins this week’s leader.
