Capsicums jumped 51% at PAK'nSAVE between last Friday and this one — the largest single-week move across every staple we watch. We compare the cheapest valid pack from each snapshot, so the rise reflects the real shelf price a shopper would meet, not a smoothed average. Big single-week moves usually trace back to one of three causes: a seasonal swing (produce especially), a specials-on/specials-off flip, or a real wholesale shift passed through to the shelf. We don’t make a call on which one this week is — that needs more history than we have today. Worth watching the same staple next Sunday to see whether it sticks.
How we measure this
Same week-on-week percentage change as the stable-staple template, but we surface the largest absolute move across the whole list. Anything inside ±8% is treated as noise and doesn’t fire here.
